Jesse as he watched the waitress walk off smiled at Geena as he was trying to think of something to say she started off asking him if he did anything interesting. Jesse placed his hand underneath his chin and began to ponder what he did earlier before taking Geena out to dinner. He smiled, “Well if you find dancing and drumming interesting then I guess that is what I did. Otherwise I just watched some dance videos on youtube and played Black Ops. You know — guy stuff. Now I’m enjoying my time with you. Did you do anything interesting today?” he asked her.
Jesse started looking around enjoying the scenery. The place had each of the Greek Gods and mythology stories on the walls. The colors matched and some of the art was replicated for the restaurant. It was an interesting experience and something that he would never usually pay attention to. The waitress made her way back and placed their drinks on the table and told them to wait a few while she tended another table. While waiting Jesse started taping on the table practicing some new rhythms that was playing around with on the drums earlier that day.
“Oh no, dancing is soooo boring.” Geena replied with a straight face. It was pretty obvious that she was joking, considering that dance was the major that she favored the most out of the two. “That doesn’t sound all that bad though. What, new routine or something?” With the end of the school year coming close, the dance students were assigned the last routine of the year where they got to plan it out themselves, but depending on who the student was they could have gotten another routine, especially if Mrs. Faleva found them to be annoying.
As she recalled her day, she narrowed her eyes to made sure that she had every important detail. “Well Evie and I are already planning the end of the year party. We found a place to throw it at, and now we’re just working out the food and drinks and stuff. We got the music done already.” Even when the two girls weren’t friends, they managed to put their differences aside to plan the party with Kindra— who no longer was in the loop and probably never would be again. “We’re still not too sure when we’re throwing it though, that’ll come later. But yeah, that was basically my day.” She concluded with a nod of her head.
Jesse made a face as she told him that she couldn’t answer anything about the cheerleaders and if they were up to par or not. He shrugged, “I guess I’ll have to wait until the first game starts. Usually the season doesn’t start till the last week of August.” Jesse was ready for football season and wanted the new year to start already that way he didn’t have to focus on anything else like math. As they continued walking he smirked, “I’m sure you will have a handful to deal with because you know how some cheerleaders can be.”
Jesse knew that it was hard because some girls want power and would do anything to overcome the head cheerleader. Making his way closer towards the restaurant Jesse opened the door and allowed Geena in. As they entered Jesse smiled and told the waitress that they needed a table for two. The waitress smiled and escorted them to their seats. After being seated Jesse smiled and asked for a Coke and looked at Geena and waited for her to order her drink.
Geena nodded her head— it would be best for her to know more about the football and basketball schedules, especially now that she was captain. “I think the main issue’ll be the new kids. The girls who were on the squad before know their place around me. I made sure of that.” She explained. This current school year was spent being co-captain to a captain that had no control over the squad. New members wouldn’t be that much of an issue for her. All she’d have to do was put them in their place the moment they tried to step out of line.
The restaurant had a warm feel to it, with plants surrounding the outsides of the building and two torches decorating the entrance. She followed the hostess to their table and sat across from Jesse. When the waitress came around she ordered an iced tea and began to look through the menu to see what she wanted. In an attempt to keep up casual conversation, she asked, “So, did you do anything interesting today?”
Jesse smirked as he got a message earlier from Geena, she was telling him that she made it as Captain of the cheer squad – varsity cheer squad that is. He did promise her after all that if she were to make it as captain that he would take her out to dinner. Jesse started looking up the nearest Greek restaurant near them so he had an idea where the two were going. After looking up the location he made sure to install the address on his phone and closed his laptop. The boy then walked towards his closet and decided to get dressed since he hadn’t been doing anything all day. After doing so he decided to head down to the main lobby to meet Geena.
Arriving there he saw the girl waiting for him, a small smile formed upon his lips as he made his way over. “Ready to eat?” he asked her as he held the door allowing her to walk out first. While walking Jesse smirked, “I knew that you would get captain, told you I was going to be a good luck charm.” Looking around the signs and lights as they started crossing the street Jesse grinned, “So are the members of the varsity squad hot or – ?”
Geena kept to herself and chose to play a game on her phone as she waited in the lobby. There were a few people nearby talking about the senior competition and how nervous they were for it, but she didn’t listen in on the conversation for long. Once she heard Jesse walk up, she got up from her seat and smiled. “Yeah, casually over here dying of starvation.” She replied with a playful roll of her eyes and exited the school first. Greek cuisine wasn’t common for her so she followed next to Jesse, making sure to pay attention to where they were in case she wanted to come back again.
“Alright yeah, you’re a good luck charm. Or I’m just that good. You’ll never know.” She teased, wagging a finger at him as they walked further from the campus and more towards central Manhattan. His question about her cheer team made her laugh, mainly because she saw it coming anyway. “Y’know, as a straight female I can’t give you a good enough answer. You’ll just have to find out for yourself. When’s the first game, August or so?” She asked him.
The email from her coach arrived around 4 pm, letting her know that yes, she would continue cheering for WSSA’s team, and even better, she would do so as captain of the varsity squad. Geena wasn’t all that surprised based on who she was going up against, but it was always better to have some sort of doubt to keep her from jinxing herself. Naturally, the first thing she did was brag about it to anyone who listened, making sure to especially rub it in her opponent’s faces, and once the excitement faded off she sent a message by to Jesse. Earlier in the week he agreed to take her out for dinner if she made it as captain, and now that it was accomplished, she was going to cash in for her free dinner.
She was already dressed from errands earlier that day, and there was no point in fixing herself up when she prided herself on her ‘flawless’ appearance anyway. After sending a text to Jesse, telling him to meet her downstairs, she grabbed her bag and wallet, making sure to lock the door behind her. The lobby, while still lively with students returning from their day out, was starting to clear out enough to where she was able to get a seat near the main doors while she waited for her friend’s arrival.
Gotta do whatcha gotta do, I guess.

Hahaha okay, well if you get Captain I’ll take you out to a nice Greek restaurant.
Now the anticipation is killing me!

Well we can go for some Italian or even Greek. I don’t mind — whatever you feel like eating.
I live with Italians, so that’s not happening. Greek’s always good. I don’t mind it.

This is obviously what one must look like.
To get into APPA, yeah. You look like one of Kony’s soldiers. But you’re white.
Lol, if I had darker hair and was jewy I could be Anne Frank.
Woah, woah woah. Ma’am. I’mma have to ask you to step back a bit there.

Sweet.
Hmm, so where are the potential dinner places?
